International scientific conference „Cultural corridor Sofia-Ohrid – Cultural tourism without boundaries”


DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM, FACULTY OF ECONOMICS at SOUTH-WEST UNIVERSITY OF NEOFIT RILSKI, BLAGOEVGRAD organize INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE „CULTURAL CORRIDOR SOFIA-OHRID – Cultural tourism without boundaries” during the period 06.07.2011 – 10.07.2011, organized as a traveling seminar with major conference centers Kustendil (Republic of Bulgaria) and Ohrid (Republic of Macedonia). The co-organizers of the forum are as follows: Bulgarian National Committee of ICOMOS; Department „Economics and organization of tourism” at The University of Economics, Varna; University of Tourism and Management, Skopje.

The forum is held under the patronage of the Minister of Economy, Energy and
Tourism, Mr. Traycho Traykov.

As a major guest lecturer we have invited Prof.Dr Arch. Todor Krestev - Honorary President of ICOMOS/Bulgaria and President of Cultural Tourism Association, Bulgaria - the initiator of the idea for establishing and developing cultural corridors in Bulgaria. The purpose of this forum is to focus on preservation and sustainable use of the cultural heritage through establishment and development of an integrated cultural tourism which goes beyond national boundaries and grounds on the common cultural values and historic roots of people. The Conference theme is not subjected only to the cultural interactions along The Road Sofia-Ohrid but also embraces all cultural routes that further the common regional tourism development of Bulgaria, Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia and Montenegro.
